Born in Philadelphia, USA, she has been writing poetry since her conversion to Islam in 2005. In her site she identifies herself not as a poet, but 'a scribe of Allah'. That explains her book's sincere and bold dedication:

In the introduction of the book, Daniel Abdal-Hayy Moore makes the significant comment:
